Penalties for Marijuana Offenses
It is illegal to possess, use, cultivate, sell, or distribute marijuana in Ohio. The penalties for a conviction can be either a misdemeanor or felony, depending upon the quantity involved. A possession conviction could result in penalties of up to 30 days in jail and fines up to $250 for a misdemeanor or as much as 8 years in prison and fine up to $15,000 for a felony. If convicted of cultivating pot, the misdemeanor penalties range from 30 days in jail and a $150 fine to felony sentencing of 10 years in prison. Trafficking in marijuana has similar penalties to cultivating.
